Like most people, I initially viewed the SCOTUS decision on vaccine mandates to be a lukewarm victory. They affirmed the request for a stay on the mandate for companies with over 100 employees and rejected the request for health care workers.
So, they weren't really ruling one the regulations themselves, just whether to grant a stay while they were being fought in lower courts. SCOTUS ruled it likely the former would lose and the latter would win.
But there is more good news here than meets the eye. To learn about the poison pill for "living constitution" crowd Gorsuch inserted into his section of the decision, check out my interview with Kevin Gutzman here.
If you really want to understand the whole issue and why any executive agency writing regulations is unconstitutional (but routine these days), check out the very first episode of Tom Mullen Talks Freedom, also with Kevin Gutzman, here.
If you have the time, I highly recommend you listen to Episode 1 and Episode 28 in succession.
I am grateful to be able to bring Kevin on to speak to these issues because no one, in my opinion, has done better work on the meaning of the constitution and how it was originally understood by the people who ratified it - the only people who ever actively consented to it.
If you really want to understand it yourself, I highly recommend both of these books:
The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution
James Madison and the Making of America
I'll have my interview with James O'Keefe of Project Veritas for you on Monday. Don't miss that one!
If you haven't already, download a free e-book copy of It’s the Fed, Stupid. here.
It’s also available in paperback here. It’s priced at a pre-hyperinflation level so grab a few copies for friends if you can.
It makes a great introduction to the government’s most economically damaging institution for liberals, conservatives, libertarians, socialists, and independents alike.
It also helps me keep the lights on here so I can continue to bring you great content.
