I called Trump's victory "an election heard round the world" not so much because of Trump himself, with whom I disagree on many things, but because of what it said about the American
electorate.
Never in human history has a propaganda campaign of this magnitude been waged against one man. They called him a fascist, an insurrectionist, a white supremacist. They said "democracy is on the ballot" and if he were elected Americans may never get the chance to vote again. They hauled him up into court and convicted him of dozens of felonies and found against him in rigged civil suits that threaten to deprive him of his
fortune.
And Americans elected him anyway.
I can't tell you how encouraging that was to me, who saw the American public wholly submit to the Covid hysteria and despaired that all hope was lost.
This election proves it isn't.
I've criticized Trump's foreign policy
appointments, but many of his other appointments have been very good. Mike Makary as FDA Director and Jay Bhattacharya heading NIH are among them.
Perhaps the most interesting is Elon Musk's and Vivek Ramaswamy's appointment to a new Department of Goverment Efficiency. This will not be an official department, but rather an advisory board designed to recommend cuts to the leviathan federal administrative state. Musk has said he thinks he can
cut up to $2 trillion per year from this monstrosity.
That alone is a worthy goal. If even a fraction of that were cut, it would benefit average Americans significantly.
But we have an opportunity to do so much more. Never in our lifetimes have Americans had so little faith in the establishment and its so-called experts. Never have they been so aware they've been lied to, ripped off,
and taken advantage of by the corporate-government blob.
I believe they are ready to hear anything.
But what is lacking from Trump's or Musk's thinking on these efforts is a clear understanding of first principles. Trump and Musk are acting in good faith but they, too, have been somewhat bamboozled by the progressives into believing the vast administrative state is well-intentioned and
legitimate, but simply corrupted and run poorly.
We know that the very idea of "regulation" is antithetical to American first principles. The problem is most people don't know what those principles are anymore. I've done my best to make the argument the administrative state must be completely abolished, not just cut in size or "reformed."
It's an ambitious goal and perhaps
unrealistic. But it would be far better if they were reaching for this goal and falling short rather than merely trying to save some money. Just getting them to talk publicly about why the administrative state is anti-American would broadcast that message to hundreds of millions of Americans who just realized they've been lied to about almost everything.
It could the spark that ignites the tinder represented by Trump's
election.
I did a podcast on this subject yesterday and shared it on X with Elon and Vivek. But they are very busy and have literally millions of people vying for their attention. At the same time, people from our movement have obtained their attention recently - they're open to listen to us "little people" if we can rise above the din.
So, here is where I need your help. I am asking
you to share my article on the same subject with Elon and Vivek on X. Their X handles are @doge, @elonmusk, and @VivekGRamaswamy. A link to the article is below. There is no paywall on this one - the entire article is free.
If even ten percent of you share this article with them on X, they will see it. Even a retweet from Musk or Ramaswamy will amplify the message to millions of Americans. And they will both be receptive to at least thinking
about our argument. Vivek has already made noises in this direction. Let's encourage him to double down.
I probably don't need to say this to anyone on this list, based upon the replies I get to these emails, but let's be gracious about our request. No, neither Musk nor Vivek are pure libertarians - maybe not libertarians at all. But I believe they are acting in good faith and have open minds. I suggest something like the
following:
"Elon and Vivek, thank you for taking on this fight on our behalf. I'd like to share this article with you for inspiration and support. Let's swing for the fence on this one!"
Again, their handles on X are @doge, @elonmusk, and @VivekGRamaswamy and the article link is below. Thank you for your help with this effort and let's light a brushfire of
liberty.
