When we hear the term, “political correctness,” we usually think of cultural matters. But political correctness has also invaded the discipline of economics.
What is politically correct economics, you ask? Any economic theory based upon government intervention, of course. Most economic
professors simply can't imagine people peacefully trading their goods and services without bureaucrats barking orders at them about how to do so, at what price, and on what terms.
As with every other area of life, the politically incorrect position on economics is freedom. Can you imagine a world where people peacefully exchanged to their mutual benefit without the government telling them how to do it?
Tom Dilorenzo can. He joins me on today's episode of Tom Mullen Talks Freedom to discuss his new book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Economics. We talk about just a few of the economic fairy tales most of us were taught in college
that Tom dismantles in this excellent and much needed book.
Tom taught economics at the university level for forty-one years, so a few lucky students actually learned something about how the world really works. For everyone else, this book provides you the tools to "become your own economist," as Tom advises.
I also have links to several of Tom's other books on the show notes page. I especially liked, How Capitalism Saved America in terms of economic history. But I wholeheartedly recommend them all.
